Why Tivoli is the Perfect Mountain Wedding Venue (Right Here in SoCal!)
Tivoli is forever one of my favorite SoCal wedding venues, because how could it not be?! Picture where the Italian countryside meets garden party vibes, all set in a space with the most DREAMY mountain views, and that’s Tivoli. It’s classy without trying too hard, and it’s one of those venues that lets you feel totally present in your day, so take it from a SoCal wedding photographer: you won’t want to miss this mountain wedding venue!!
Tivoli: A SoCal Wedding Venue With Insane Mountain Views
There are SO many reasons to love Tivoli. It’s one that I can never choose my favorite part of, but I can tell you what draws my couples to it every single time:
The property is STUNNING
I genuinely cannot say enough things about how beautiful this SoCal wedding venue is!! It gives you that feeling of an elevated backyard wedding at an Italian villa, and paired with the mountain views?? I cannot.
It’s not just the venue spaces, either. The getting-ready rooms? 10/10. The gardens? Obsessed!! Like, tell me this whole thing doesn’t look like a Taylor Swift music video scene.
The photo ops are literally endless
Even the areas around the venue are gorgeous. I always love to take my couples to the lookout for photos, especially with their wedding party. The views (that are within walking distance, don’t worry) are way too good to pass up.
Their rain plan is just as good as the original plan
As a SoCal wedding photographer, I’m a sucker for a good plan!! I love it when we don’t have to worry about giving up good design or smooth transitions because of the weather, and Tivoli? They make it happen. Even though it’s an all-outdoor wedding venue, they offer a tented reception for rain (or for super hot weather), and it’s just as gorg. And if you don’t believe me… Check out Gianna and Dylan’s day. It drizzled all day, but we didn’t miss a beat.
It lets you stay present + connected
The most important part of ANY SoCal wedding venue to me is that it lets my couples feel fully present with each other, and Tivoli does a great job of it. A highlight spot of the venue for me is the quiet courtyard. It’s super secluded, and I love to see my couples use it for either portraits or just to take a breather, just to be together during the day!! Those intentional moments are always my absolute favorites. No chaos or noise, just full-on you-two-on-a-date energy.
How to Plan a Wedding at the Mountain Wedding Venue
If you’re sitting here thinking, “Okay, yeah… This is my dream wedding venue.” Yeah, same. And more good news: it’s actually really easy to plan your day at!! Here’s a quick overview of all the main details you need to know:
The max capacity at the mountain wedding venue is 175, which is honestly the perfect amount. You get to invite all your favorite people without it getting too hectic.
They offer all-inclusive packages, so that basically all you have to do is kick back and relax with a glass of wine. Love that for you!
Tivoli holds weddings year-round, so your wedding date will be available as long as you book in advance. This one books up pretty quickly, though, so I suggest reaching out ASAP!!
As I said, this is an outdoor-only venue, so consider the weather when planning your wedding date.
The Venues at Tivoli
Every single venue spot here is a DREAM. Ceremonies are full of love in a space that feels like it’s just you and your favorite people. Receptions always feel magical when you’re surrounded by that Italian villa feel, clinking wine underneath string lights. Portraits feel easy because the views do a lot of the heavy lifting for you. Here’s everywhere you can choose to say “I do” at the mountain wedding venue:
Al Fresco Overlay
This tented pavilion is everything. Exposed wood and open-air make this one a super classy, super laidback spot to hold your ceremony in. It’s perfect for the couple who wants something a little more simple but still crazy-gorgeous.
Piazza Tivoli
Open-air courtyard? Italian fountains? Rolling lawns?? CHECK!! This one has it all. It’s a versatile and absolutely STUNNING place to say your vows, and I’m obsessed with ceremonies here every single time.
Tesoro di Tivoli
Lastly, the one I see the most commonly used: the Tesoro di Tivoli. This one feels like you’re in your own little world, surrounded by trees that let the light hit through justttt right. And the San Diego views from this spot?? Insane.
Design Ideas for a Tivoli Wedding
My top tip? Always let the Italian feel guide you. Whether the route you take is a garden party vibe like Gabbi and Tyler did or a really effortlessly classy feel, it’ll work here. As a SoCal wedding photographer, I picture bright pastels and statement floral arrangements for spring and deep, moody color palettes (think red wine-inspired) with luxe-feeling flowers for fall. And both energies look like they’re MADE for Tivoli!!
A Sample Timeline for an Easy, Unrushed Wedding at Tivoli
My favorite kinds of days here are the ones that feel naturally-paced. And as a SoCal wedding photographer, I know that always comes down to your timeline!! There’s a lot of wiggle room here, since the SoCal wedding venue gives you 11.5 hours in your package. Here’s how the perfect day at Tivoli looks:
9:00 am: Start getting ready – the bridal suite is everything, and I will be getting some glamour shots of you while you’re having a mimosa (or two, or three) with your girls!!
1:00 pm: Your first look, private vows, and couples’ portraits. No matter which area of the venue we’re at for this… It’s gonna be romantic. Like, “You Are in Love” by Taylor Swift romantic. I always recommend you guys take a little bit here once we’re done with couples’ portraits to be together in the courtyard and soak in the day!!
2:00 pm: Wedding party photos at the overlook – because if you have a mountain wedding venue… You use it.
3:00 pm: Head back to the bridal suite to breathe for a sec before your ceremony.
4:00 pm: Ceremony time – say “I do” with all your favorite people around!!
4:30 pm: Take some time alone with your partner before actually joining your cocktail hour.
5:30 pm: Reception entrances, special dances, + dinner. By the way… The food here is 10/10.
7:45 pm: I’ll steal you two away from the dance floor for a sec for sunset portraits, because the way the light hits over the mountains here is a can’t miss. Here’s my guide to getting the best golden hour portraits in SoCal.
FAQs About a Tivoli Wedding
How Much Does a Tivoli Wedding Cost?
The price of a wedding at Tivoli totally depends on the package and any add-ons you choose, as well as your guest count + time of year. I always recommend reaching out directly to the venue to get the best quote!!
What's the Best Time of Year for a Tivoli Wedding?
Tivoli is GORGEOUS year-round, but I love a summer wedding here. The long days plus golden hour magic is something straight out of my dreams, and if you love all things happy, vibrant, and fun… You’ll love it JUST as much as I do.
What are the Best Photo Spots at Tivoli?
Can I say everywhere?
Seriously, though, if I’m your SoCal wedding photographer, know that I’ll always be whisking you two away to the overlook, the courtyard, and Tesoro di Tivoli, even if it’s not the ceremony spot you choose. There are too many photo ops for cinematic, dreamy wedding pictures here, and I love it SO much.
Gabbi and Tyler’s Spring Italian Garden Party Wedding at Tivoli
Gabbi and Tyler had me casually crying behind the camera all day. Everything was so real, and those are the best kinds of days. Tyler’s reaction to Gabbi walking down the aisle? I can’t even deal. SO cute!!
The design that they chose for their Tivoli wedding was so intentional. The spring pastel color palette was everything, and the florals done by Lilac and Fawn (the bride’s sister!!) have been actually living rent-free in my head since this day.
Every single part of the day felt easy and natural. I wish that everyone could feel how warm and perfect it felt at dinner when the sun went down, and everyone was enjoying each other’s company, because… It was something straight out of a movie.
