Bob Baker Marionette Theater Wedding Venue: One of the Coolest LA Wedding Venues You Have to See
Let me paint this picture for you. Picture this: a puppet stage framed the ceremony (yes, you read that right—puppets!), complete with velvet curtains and twinkle lights, making everything look like a magical movie set. Guests sat in vintage theater chairs, getting ready for the show. The air? Oh, it was full of laughter, a little pre-wedding jitters, and, you know, just a dash of puppet magic. (I’m not kidding, there were actual puppets involved.) This all went down at the Bob Baker Marionette Theater Wedding Venue, which, feels like a dream come true for couples looking for something unique and unforgettable!
The bride? She was rocking something effortlessly cool, looking like she walked right off a Pinterest board. The groom? Beaming like a kid on Christmas morning. And right there in the middle of it all, you had handmade details, embroidered napkins (fancy, right?), and a storybook written just for the guests.
Honestly, this is exactly why I do what I do. The details, the quirks, the moments that make a wedding yours—that’s what gets me so excited to show up and snap away.
And this is exactly why I’m obsessed with venues like this in LA that let couples do their thing. It’s not just about a gorgeous backdrop; it’s about telling your story in a way that’s as unique as you are!
This LA Wedding Venue Isn’t What You’re Expecting
If you haven’t heard of Bob Baker Marionette Theater Wedding venue, don’t worry—most people haven’t. That’s part of the charm! In the heart of Los Angeles, this space is a total vibe—colorful, intimate, nostalgic, and bursting with personality. It’s definitely not your typical ballroom wedding—and that’s exactly what makes it one of the most Unique Wedding Venues in California.
Sofia & Christian wanted a wedding day that felt uniquely them, and Bob Baker delivered. It was fun, cozy, full of color, and just a little bit chaotic in the best possible way!
It wasn’t just a wedding, it was their wedding. From the ceremony to all the little details of the day, it was their love story, their families, their legacy, all wrapped up in a way that felt uniquely them.
A Mid-Wedding Downtown LA Adventure
After the ceremony wrapped up, and everyone was still buzzing (probably still thinking about the puppets, let’s be real), we hopped in the car and headed over to the newly reopened 6th Street Bridge. If you’re familiar, you know it’s iconic—and if not, it’s time to add it to your bucket list!
They walked the bridge together, with the LA skyline behind them, traffic rumbling underneath, and the wind playing with her veil. It wasn’t rushed. It wasn’t overly posed. It was real. Just the two of them, taking a moment to soak in the fact that they were married. I’ll never get tired of moments like this.
These are the kinds of in-between memories I live to photograph.
The Reception at The Grass Room
We ended the day at The Grass Room, a reception space in Downtown LA that’s just as cool as it sounds. Think exposed brick, wild greenery, and a layout that feels like a hidden garden growing inside the city.
When people ask me what makes a wedding memorable, it’s not the size of the guest list or the cost of the flowers. It’s this: picking LA wedding venues that actually feel like you, and giving yourself permission to break the rules.
Sofia & Christian thought through every detail, from specialty cocktails to personalized touches that made guests feel at home. This was the kind of wedding when no one wants to leave early, and the kind of night you’ll remember every time a certain song plays or you smell your wedding flowers again! (Plus, who doesn’t want some wedding merch to take home?!)
Thoughtful, Sentimental, and Totally Their Own
The hand-embroidered napkins? Made by the bride.
The little book that shared stories of the couples who came before them—parents, grandparents, the generations of love they’ve learned from? A work of art. I watched guests tear up reading through it. It wasn’t just a wedding—it was a celebration of legacy.
And when it came to their photos, they didn’t want anything forced or overly posed. We shot mostly film, embraced the blur, leaned into the grain, and let the day unfold naturally. The result? A gallery that feels like stepping back into their memories, not just looking at pretty pictures.

Love Notes from Sofia & Christian
“Cambria photographed our wedding last weekend, and we feel so, so lucky that we got to work with her! We searched for a long time for a photographer who captured weddings more in the ‘documentary’ style than traditional wedding photography. Especially in the LA area, many of the photographers that had the style we wanted were so far out of our price range, we started to get discouraged. I happened to stumble upon a wedding Cambria photographed on Instagram, and from one photo of hers, we knew she would be perfect! Cambria was so sweet from the start; she sent us photos from weddings she had photographed that seemed to have a similar vibe to what we were trying to achieve.
Many calls with vendors somehow feel like a job interview, but talking to Cambria felt like reconnecting with an old friend! My husband and I are not the most extroverted people, so I knew working with someone we felt comfortable with would be necessary to get the best photos. Leading up to the wedding, she was super responsive via email as we tried to plan for a spot to get couple photos after the ceremony. She was extremely patient as we literally could not make a decision until days before the ceremony (whoops!).
Cambria showed up on our wedding day with the best energy! Everyone commented on how sweet, organized, and amazing she was! She captured the most beautiful photos, just after our sneak peek (which she delivered so quickly!), we feel like the luckiest people ever! Everyone says it, but your wedding day is such a whirlwind and goes by so quickly. Having her gorgeous photos to preserve the day forever is literally the greatest gift! She really understood our vibe and vision and blew us away with the photos she got.
We will be her biggest fans forever! If you get the chance to book her, do it! (We could attach literally every photo she took because they are all so good, but chose just a few to capture her amazing breadth of talent!)”

The whole point is to have a wedding that feels like you, and that’s exactly what Sofia and Christian’s day felt like!
